Question

Hello,

I have a TV with a USB port, so I put a movie in AVI format on my USB stick and it tells me it cannot read it, probably because the format is not correct, but it doesn't read MPEG videos either. I looked in the manual and it doesn't specify a format for movies. So my question is, what format can it read? My TV is from the brand Technical.

Oh yes, you were right, the solution was to find the TV manual and check the supported formats.

I just found mine and it says "USB port for playing MP3 and JPEG files. So music and photos only!

There is no update available at the moment, so it's not possible to watch videos, but I can connect my computer to it via HDMI, so if I want to watch a movie, I just plug the computer directly into the TV.

reading videos from a USB stick is not possible on all televisions because some of them are not equipped with software for that called codecs (and a wide variety is needed since there are many different codecs). On the other hand, computers do this very well, and we can update codecs through downloads, unlike TVs for which it is very complicated, if not impossible
apart from contacting your manufacturer, you will never know why?

Hello,  Same opinion as Bernorenard, the USB port is used to connect a multimedia disc reader for example, maybe an external drive (to be verified but I don't think so due to the encoding/decoding issue --> the codecs missing on the TV apparently) or a flash drive. In general, only images or music can be read from a USB drive, no video.  What's the model of your device?  Best regards -- Long live Bobo! Hello,  Have you tried the Gardmachin method (post from January 27, 2011)? See here: https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-20665353-lire-video-via-usb-sur-tv-lg-37ld450#newanswer  In fact, you need to enable DivX movie playback on the USB port of the TV (1=enabled - 0=disabled), because on some TVs, the manufacturer may have intentionally disabled this feature.  To fix this, you need to buy a ONE FOR ALL universal remote of any model, which will allow you to access the hidden menu of your TV and do as Gardmachin indicates.  I did it, and it works.

Below, I describe in detail the steps to perform with a universal remote control (which, to be effective, must necessarily have a button called "magic").
For my part, I bought a ONE FOR ALL remote model URC-7110 (the simplest) at a CORA store for €14.99 (11/17/2011).

Warning: during steps 2 to 5, nothing you do with the remote will be displayed on the screen.

1 - Turn on the TV with the remote
2 - Press and hold the "magic" button until the blue LED at the top of the remote blinks twice and then stays on permanently
3 - Enter a code (see below)
4 - Confirm by pressing the Magic button once
5 - Enter the code 00018 (if 00018 does not work, try 018)
6 - A window appears on the screen asking for the password
7 - Enter the code 0413
8 - A menu titled "EZ ADJUST" appears on the screen. Using the remote browser, scroll down to the line titled "2.Tool Option 3".
9 - Using the remote browser, go to the right
10 - In the second line, we have the value DivX (1=enabled - 0=disabled)
Correct this value to display the number "1".
11 - Exit this menu by pressing the "Exit" button on the remote.

The code corresponding to step 3 will depend on the model of your LG TV, and it will be one of the following codes: 1423 - 2182 - 0178 - 1663 - 0037 - 1305 - 0009 - 0556 - 0714 - 0606 - 0109 - 0698 - 0715 - 1721 - 1681 - 2057 - 000.
