Hello,
I'm in 3rd grade and a teacher asked us to do a presentation on a category of people among:
-Gothics -Punks -Breakdancers -Skinheads -Hippies

I chose Skinheads because it's a category I don't know well and I'm curious.

I've already found quite a bit of information but I can't find the style of music listened to by skinheads; I've seen that they originally listened to reggae, but I don't know if that has changed or not.

Is there anyone who can answer me by specifying one or more music group(s)?

Best regards.

Basically, if you want to bring up the subject of the more traditional movement,
talk mainly about reggae in general
mod beat,
soul/northern soul,
ska obviously
And gradually move on to punk then to Oi!

I give the opinion of a traditional Trojan skinhead, personally, as well as many other skinheads, we don’t necessarily like Oi! which was born much later in the skin scene..

Hi,
If their music style was Reggae, look towards a style that’s close to Reggae at least

The problem is the choice!
Who says otherwise?

Good evening, SKA... I think it's not bad music for them.

Here's a little excerpt from Wikipedia, you type SKA and you get a ton of stuff, good evening.

In the United Kingdom of the late 60s, particularly thanks to the Trojan Records label which published most of the reggae records at the time, skinheads, young people from the working-class suburbs of London descended from the Mods, particularly enjoyed this new rhythm. From this, skinhead reggae was born. Skins are far from being all neo-Nazi thugs as most people think today: they peacefully cohabited with their black Jamaican rude boy cousins and shared the same taste for stylish clothes and Jamaican and black American music. It was only with the crisis of the late 70s that far-right movements, led by the National Front, convinced some to renounce their friendship and join the opposing camp. They began to attack Pakistani immigrants, a behavior referred to as "paki bashing" (lynching of Pakistanis). This marked the beginning of a long racial hatred, prompting many skins to distinguish themselves from it. Thus, in the United States and later in England, under the influence of Roddy Moreno, the S.H.A.R.P movement (SkinHead Against Racial Prejudice = Skinheads against racial prejudice) was born. Tired of being confused with their enemies, skinheads decided to nickname them "boneheads." For an outsider, a simple way to know whether a skinhead is apolitical, SHARP, red, or Nazi is the badges they wear.

Skinheads are recognizable by their look: shaved head, shirts or t-shirts, Doc Martens on their feet, often with suspenders holding up their jeans or sta-prests. Their emblematic music is reggae, but also ska, rocksteady, and soul, preferably with fast tempos on which they dance until exhaustion at parties. By 1971, they began to lose interest in this music, whose tempo slowed down with the arrival of rasta themes in the songs.

Thank you very much, I hadn't thought of Wikipedia. And I'm going to check out the SKA.
So I see that skins no longer listen to reggae or almost no longer because they consider it too slow.

In the musical genre, you have the English band MADNESS - when I was a young girl (now 43) I used to listen to them, I loved it and they are still a great band... that's all I know, good presentation, good luck

no, today's music for skins is Oi! (it's spelled with an exclamation point)

and for the fascist skins, it's RAC (rock against communism) even though they can also listen to Oi)

Ska and reggae are more for the nostalgic ones who call themselves "Trojan" (apolitical and working class, basically)
and anyway, they all listen to a lot of punk and street punk now.

there you go, if you have more specific questions, let me know.

"Not current skinhead music, it's Oi! (it's written with the exclamation point)"

Exclamation point maybe, but no "¨" on the "i".
Thank you.

Skinheads refer to shaved heads, often associated with neo-Nazis... I don't know if we can compare that to a "class." In any case, they mainly listen to music described as "underground," which is not directly commercialized...

"Skinheads" does not mean neo-Nazis; you're stuck in a stereotype. Originally, skinheads were not political, and today there are far-left skinheads, far-right skinheads, and apolitical skinheads: not all skinheads are neo-Nazis.

You forgot Legion88, Dernier Rempart, and DSH (Division Skinhead), and it should be specified that Kong is anti-communist and anti-redskins, and we are fascists.

Hello,

it must be a bit late for your presentation, but us skinheads listen to RAC (Rock Against Caille) and also RIF, we also quite like jumpstyle and ska, and most of us mainly listen to Légions 88.

I hope this information will help you!

Nonsense... being one myself, I wouldn't tell you any bullshit like the person above does. The skinhead movement emerged in England during the 60s and was initially a working-class movement. They indeed listened to reggae (Toots and the Maytals...)
Afterwards, they divided over politics, but there was still nothing Nazi... Just patriotism!!!
And so on, this movement has seen a lot of division. Today, skinheads are still very divided. The REDSKINS (communists), the skins or boneheads (but that's pejorative) for the neo-Nazis, and even... the punks (who are also a sub-species of skinheads).

And for the groups, then for the reds it will be Toots and the Maytals, Bob Marley...
the punks would be more like Guerilla Poubelle, Les Betraves...
the patriot skins will be Vae Victis, Île de France, Komintern Sect, West Side Boys, Evil Skin...
and the neo-Nazis are rather Legion 88, Avenue Mohamed, Bunker 84, Panzerjäger...

There you go, I hope it's not too late or even if it is, that it will serve others.

Anti-nazi skinheads (S.H.A.R.P or Redskins) listen to Ska or reggae and American soul, while Nazi skinheads listen to Oi or oy, I’m not sure about the spelling.
