    This is not a French site, so the applicable legislation may not necessarily be the same.
    Furthermore, the files hosted may not be stored on this server, but on several other independent ones.

        Well no, because there are no advertisements or other sources of income for the artist, and since it is free for the user, it is illegal.
        There are free and legal sites because there are advertisements or because the artist is trying to gain recognition through free downloads.
