I also have a Mac, and by gathering the various advice from others, not finding options, etc., here’s what worked for me. Good luck

Go to Tools
Page Info
Click on Media:
In Address:
Look for the URL that starts with "http://profile.ak.fbcdn......"
Uncheck or check the box at the bottom "Block images from profile.ak.fbcdn...."
Close the page
Go to View
Then click on Refresh

It's very simple: if you're using Firefox, go to "Tools" then "Options," click on the "Content" tab, click on "Exceptions" next to the line "Load images automatically," and remove the Facebook site.
